This is one of the three heaviest snakes. Like all pythons, it is a non-toxic contractile. Adult humans were killed by the reticulated python (and eaten in at least two reported cases).



How many humans were killed by the pythons?

Between 1978 and 2009, a large contracting snake killed 16 humans in the United States. At least seven of these deaths were caused by captive Burmese pythons, according to researchers. In the wild, this species seems to pose little threat to people around the world.
