A) Bears hibernate during the winter, but never sleep. Bear hibernation simply means that you don't have to eat or drink, and you rarely (or never) urinate or defecate. but the bear wakes up and moves around in the burrow. It's like a dog sleeping.



How long can a bear stay asleep?

Bears can sleep for over 100 days without eating, drinking or throwing away trash! Bears can actually turn pee into protein. Unlike hibernation, dormancy is not spontaneous and often lasts for a shorter period of time.

What if I wake up a sleeping bear?
