The Ganges dolphin was officially discovered in 1801. Dolphins on the Ganges once inhabited the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Megna and Karnafuri-Sang river systems in Nepal, India and Bangladesh. the Ganges dolphins can only live in freshwater and are essentially blind.
