The mammalian spinal column is composed of five morphologically distinct vertebrae groups. The cervical spine, thoracic spine, lumbar spine, sacrum, and coccyx (coccyx) (Fig. 3.1). In humans, the spinal column is usually composed of 33 vertebrae, arranged in series, and connected by ligaments and intervertebral discs.
