PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
A medium-sized compact pigeon, 11.8 in (30 cm), 9.2 oz (260
g). Head, neck, and breast greenish gray, belly yellow, wings
olive-green.
DISTRIBUTION
Africa, in a small belt from Gambia to Somalia.
HABITAT
Forest, associated with figs (Ficus).
BEHAVIOR
Not known.
FEEDING ECOLOGY AND DIET
Feeds on figs in the canopy.
REPRODUCTIVE BIOLOGY
Nest is a frail platform of twigs in a tree or shrub, 8–26 ft
(2.5–8 m) above ground. One to two glossy white eggs are laid.
CONSERVATION STATUS
Not threatened.
SIGNIFICANCE TO HUMANS
Uses fig trees in cities.
