PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
7.9 in (20 cm), weight less than 1.4 oz (40 g). Very small, gray
long-tailed dove.

Australia.
HABITAT
Species of outback Australia.
BEHAVIOR
The male bobs rapidly with wings partly opened to show the
white markings and class loudly. No display flight.
FEEDING ECOLOGY AND DIET
Seeds, mainly from grass.
REPRODUCTIVE BIOLOGY
Rainfall and food availability govern breeding. Juveniles can
breed at three months old.
CONSERVATION STATUS
Not threatened.
SIGNIFICANCE TO HUMANS
The diamond dove and zebra dove (Geopelia striata) are popular
as pets.
