TAXONOMY
Atherina endrachtensis Quoy and Gaimard, 1825, Shark Bay,
Western Australia. Type locality probably is given in error;
more likely, it is New Guinea or Waigeo Island.

English: Endracht hardyhead, striped hardyhead, striped silverside;
Misima-Paneati: Galgal.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Maximum length about 3.3 in (8.5 cm). Elongate, with typical
silverside shape. Moderately deep body. Large eyes and silvery
midlateral band. Swim bladder visible through translucent
flesh.
DISTRIBUTION
Northern Australian coast, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Admiralty
Islands, New Britain, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia.
HABITAT
Found in shallow coastal waters.
BEHAVIOR
Often schools with other silverside species.

Feeds on zooplankton.
