The slug population is suitable for gardens. Slugs break down garden debris and turn it into nitrogen-rich fertilizers to nourish the soil (similar to worm composting). They are also a natural food source for many beneficial insects, birds, frogs, snakes, and toads.



Is it okay to kill slugs?

Cutting slugs with scissors or splitting them with spades is probably the most popular method, except for trampling and dying. This rapid death is "humane" and is considered to be the least painful way for animals to die.

Are slugs beneficial?
