The cockroach hemocoil (the body cavity through which blood flows) is divided into three sinuses due to the presence of the ventral and dorsal diaphragms. The pericardial sinus is above the dorsal diaphragm. The peri-visceral sinus lies between the dorsal and ventral diaphragms.
